It's that time of the year again. Everyone is scrambling to finish their work, write their papers or to do their exams. We are lost in our own thoughts of not only our own classes, but the summer up ahead. What do I do? Where do I go? The summer haze and the mad dash at the last week of classes begin. But there is one thing we often overlook while we are wrapped in our own thoughts, and that's how much some people have done for us, whom we may never have known or met.
This is indeed a weak attempt of saying thank you to those who have made our time on campus so worthwhile, but it is one much needed at a time when the student body feels disenfranchised from its representatives, and as the Student Association ventures deep onto paths unknown. I will mention by name two people who I think deserve much thanks and have been hidden away, left mostly unknown to a vast student body (hence, not the people whose names are everywhere, such as the SA executive board, although they, too, deserve much thanks). They are Carl Ross and Ayyaz Tufail. "Who?" you may ask, but that is my point. Both have spent enormous amounts of time with the SA and many of its representatives and have devoted much heart and soul into the student body just to make the rest of our lives as comfortable as possible on campus and here at UB. Yet they are two people who do not get much attention, and they probably like it that way (so forgive me if I embarrass/annoy you by writing this), but I deem it is necessary to thank those who are much less thanked, especially in these two cases.
I wish these two the best in their future and hope they have a great time doing whatever they do. I wish give them a nod of the hat, a wave goodbye and a very warm and grateful thank you. You will sincerely be missed by some, and do not think that your time and effort went by unnoticed.
Best,
SA Senator Ali Ahmed
