Sidelines

On the Mend:

Sophomore running back James Potts will miss the remainder of the football season with a torn ACL. On the second carry of his career, Potts took a handoff 49 yards, scoring the first touchdown of his career. But after scoring he went down clutching his right leg.

This is very disappointing for the Bulls and Potts, who was ranked as the 24th best running back coming out of high school by rivals.com. All of last season, Potts was academically ineligible; he finally worked his way back and showed promise this offseason.

The Bulls will now turn to junior Brandon Murie and freshman Devin Campbell to fill in behind star running back junior Branden Oliver, as they host Mid-American Conference rival Kent State (1-1) next Wednesday.

In the spotlight:

Junior wide receiver Alex Neutz: He shined in front of fans in the Bulls home opener against Morgan State. Neutz tied a UB Division I record with four touchdowns. He also had 154 yards, a career-high. So far this season Neutz has 206 yards receiving and five touchdowns (the most receiving touchdowns of any player in Division I), averaging 15.6 yards per catch.

Junior outside hitter Christine Fritsche: She recorded a season-high 15 kills against Eastern Kentucky in the final game of the Cleveland State Invite. She also posted a .312 hitting percentage, along with three digs. Fritsche is a key player in the Bulls' rotation with 2.71 kills per set.
