I became a journalist by accident. I signed up for a class in Fall of 2010 that labeled itself as a writing workshop, because I wanted to explore all levels of writing. To my surprise, I found out that I was suddenly a staff writer for The Spectrum.
Next thing I knew, the Life Desk was asking me to be an editor, and now I've moved up to managing editor.
I love working for this paper and I plan to bring plenty of features, as well as my own columns – which I live to write – to the student body in 2011-12. As a non-traditional student, I'm 33 years old and I feel I bring a different perspective that an undergraduate paper rarely sees.
I'm an English major with a creative writing focus and I already had a love of writing before working at The Spectrum. Since joining the paper, I feel I have really grown in my ability to place words on paper.
Now that I'm in my senior year I still like to make room for plenty of reading, clichés-busting, and of course spending every moment I can with my beautiful wife GiGi.
