The first Mid-American Conference meet for the women's swimming and diving team didn't turn out as the team had hoped.
The Bulls (1-2, 0-1 MAC) traveled to Miami (Ohio) (2-1,1-0 MAC) over the weekend, and the RedHawks handled home pool advantage with a dominant 193.5-106.5 win over Buffalo.
Despite the loss, there were still swimmers for the Bulls who stood out with outstanding performances.
Freshman Marissa Murphy placed first in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 52.65 seconds, almost a whole second in front of the next racer.
Other first place honors went to the 40-yard freestyle relay team, which consisted of sophomore Karly Moore, junior Keri Chandler, senior Jordan Deren and senior Jessie Koltz.
The women of the swimming team gave a valiant effort but unfortunately came up short. The Bulls now have a very lengthy rest period, which should surely give them time to practice and fix the mistakes from their last contest.
The next match is on Nov. 13 at Alumni Arena, where Buffalo will host Niagara. The first race will start at 1 p.m.
