Decorated professor passes away

Raj J. Kaul, a revered professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, passed away April 9 from a "prolonged illness."

Kaul, born in Agra, India May 8, 1923, worked at the university for the past 42 years, beginning as an associate professor in 1968 and rising to full professorship.
He was the recipient of several teaching honors during his career at UB. Kaul served on the Graduate School's Executive Committee, Recruitment Committee and Fellowship Committee. In addition, he held positions on the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences academic programs committee and as the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Electrical Engineering.

At the time of his death, Kaul was acting as a thesis and dissertation advisor to two doctoral students and a Master of Science student, as well as writing a book on mathematics.

According to an announcement from the department of electrical engineering, "He will be greatly missed by his former and current students, faculty and staff of the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the University at Buffalo community."
