Quinn named new football coach

After the departure of four-year head coach Turner Gill on Dec. 13, Buffalo didn't wait long to find his replacement.

Cincinnati Bearcats offensive coordinator Jeff Quinn was introduced as Buffalo's 24-th head coach on Dec. 22.

'I believe that we have hired one of the sharpest offensive minds in all of college football and someone who will bring great excitement to our program,' said Athletic Director Warde Manuel. 'In addition, Coach Quinn has proven himself as an outstanding recruiter both nationally and within the Mid-American Conference. He has coached and won at every level and truly cares about the development of student-athletes as young men and football players. For all these reasons and more, I am anxious to see what the next chapter of UB football brings.'

Quinn will serve as interim head coach for the Bearcats in their Sugar Bowl showdown with the Florida Gators before becoming the 24th head coach in Buffalo Bulls history.

He has 27 years of coaching experience and helped the Cincinnati program win back-to-back Big East Championships and a 33-6 record in his tenure as offensive coordinator.

Quinn is no stranger to the Mid-American Conference as he helped the Central Michigan Chippewas win the 2006 MAC Championship before moving on to Cincinnati.
