Willy signs with Ravens as free agent
Although his name was not among the 256 called during the 2009 NFL Draft, former Buffalo quarterback Drew Willy's prospects of a career in professional football are still alive. After going undrafted, Willy agreed to terms on a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Willy finished his four-year career as the school's all-time leading passer, culminating in a Mid-American Conference Championship and an appearance in the International Bowl in January.
Ten players from the MAC were selected in the draft, including former Ball State quarterback Nate Davis, drafted by the San Francisco 49ers, and former Temple defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
At the end of the NFL Draft, Willy was rated the third-best player available and top quarterback available by ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.
