Nightclub coming to Goodyear Hall

Returning from summer break next semester will not only signify the end of what was a great, much-needed break from classes and tests, but will also be the start of a new revolution for UB.

??? Through the Student Activity Fee and some leftover money from the economic bailout, UB will begin construction of a new on-campus nightclub-The BullDen.

???The club will take over the top two floors of Goodyear Hall and is expected to be open in time for the return of students next fall.

???"We are really trying to get a diversified club to UB," said Jessica Green, director of Student Nightlife and coordinator of The BullDen. "Our goal is to allow students to come in and have a great time, which is why we chose to offer so many different themed nights."

???The BullDen will feature more than just a disco ball and crazy cocktails; strobe lights, lasers and smoke machines will be just the beginning. A foam pit will be set up in the midst of the dance floor, hot tubs and a swimming pool will be added to the roof and a UB bucking bull will complement the very center the new nightclub.

???According to Green, The BullDen isn't your average nightclub. Every night something different will be offered to accommodate the wide range of students attending UB. The BullDen is also available to rent, if any clubs or student groups want to experience the true VIP treatment.

???Theme nights range from a techno/house music night, hip-hop happy hour and metal mayhem. Pop star night and country night will feature the UB mechanized bucking bull.

???"I think the students will find that we offer anything they are looking for," Green said. "During the week we stick to the themes, but the weekend is more of a general nightclub. We will be offering VIP rooms and bottle service, for those who don't want to mingle with a big crowd."

???The VIP rooms are not the only luxury offered by The BullDen, according to Green. A valet service is going to be available whenever the club is open.

???Adding to the VIP service, hot tubs will be placed on the roof of Goodyear Hall along with a swimming pool and massage hut. A cocktail waitress will be assigned to the roof whenever patrons are present in order to meet their alcohol needs.

???No student should worry about being able to afford the nightclub. As ritzy as it sounds, The BullDen accepts Campus Cash, credit, and offers drink specials for customers that use Dining Dollars.

???"We want to ensure that every student has an opportunity to party at our club," Green said. "We understand that the economy is tough right now, and that is why we will be offering so many different payment options."

???According to Green, residents of Goodyear may worry about the noise of the club affecting their sleep and study practices, but thanks to the soundproof floor, designed and assembled by UB's own School of Acoustic Engineering, students won't hear a thing.

???"This floor is amazing," said William Wayne, president and CEO of the School of Acoustic Engineering. "Without getting into top-secret specifications, I can tell you that this floor is easily the best creation to ever come out of UB. We used some rare metals and cooked them up to see what would happen; the whole thing was kind of an accident, but it ended up working out for us."

???The floor was donated to The BullDen under the condition that members of the Acoustic Floor Team would get free drinks and VIP service whenever they attend the club.

???"It's a tiny price to pay for the quality of this floor," Green said. "I was concerned that the students below would suffer from the thunderous bass of our three quarters of $1 million sound system, but now I have no worries at all."
