???Collegiate triple jumpers know the smallest intricacies of their craft and perform to the best of their abilities. With little room for error, one misstep can result in catastrophe.
???Sophomore triple jumper Sarah Krott is a hardworking athlete intrigued with the difficulty of the triple jump since high school.
???Before jumping for the Buffalo women's track team for the two years, Krott graduated from Cuba-Rushford High School in Cuba, N.Y. Krott's high school career included numerous letters, records and all-star recognition in a variety of sports.
Though she excelled as a swimmer and distance runner, Krott decided to pursue her track and field interests at the collegiate level.
???"Triple jumping is something I love doing," Krott said. "It is an extremely challenging and technical event. It is nearly impossible to master the triple jump. There are always improvements to be made and new techniques to try with the phases."
???Krott is always up for a challenge and thrives on overcoming obstacles.
???"Triple jumping is great because there are always ideas going through your head from the moment you get on the runway until the time you step out of the pit," Krott said. "One of the biggest difficulties with triple jumping is that there are tons of things to think about, let alone actually make happen, while jumping."
???The difficulty of triple jumping isn't the only aspect of the event that pushes Krott forward. In her mind, each jump provides a shot of adrenaline.
???"Every jump is a battle with yourself to get everything together at the right time and further your mark," Krott said. "The physical and mental aspects are why I continue jumping."
???While jumping is her passion, Krott never forgets why she is at Buffalo. Her academics always come first. She possesses a unique desire to excel in the classroom and on the track. Many have taken notice of her desire to succeed, including women's track and field head coach Vicki Mitchell.
???"Sarah Krott had a very strong indoor season and achieved personal bests because she is a very hard worker," Mitchell said. "She does very well in academics and has a great balance to her academics and athletics."
???Krott feels she owes much gratitude to the people closest to her and filters that appreciation through her performance.
???"I am my greatest inspiration to keep jumping," Krott said. "I do it for those who have been there through everything. My teammates and coaches inspire me to keep working hard and achieving a higher level, and my parents remain one of my biggest inspirations. They have been with me through all of my achievements and rough times."
???Once she leaves Buffalo, Krott aims to jump up the corporate ladder.
???"I hope to become a successful entrepreneur," Krott said. "I want to be involved in the field of personal and executive/corporate image consulting. I want to travel a lot, own a pet giraffe and sky dive."
