Swimmers named to All-MAC team
???Finishing in sixth place at the MAC Championship in Bowling Green, three athletes from the women's swimming team were named to the All-MAC Second Team on Monday.
???Junior Jessica Ballard took part in three record-breaking events including the 200-medley relay. She also finished in fifth place in the 200 IM with 2:02.40, seventh place in the 400 IM in 4:23.65 and a 1:59.66 finish in the 200 backstroke. The times earned her fourth place overall at the MAC Championship.
???Freshman Brynn Marecki also partook in the 200-medley relay, in addition to being a member of the 400-medley relay. She also made an NCAA "B" cut in the 100-breaststroke, breaking her record for the fourth time this season with a time of 1:01.81. The time put her in third place.
???Lastly, junior Meili Carpenter placed second in both of the one and three-meter diving events, earning 280.05 points and 282.65 points, respectively.
Pierce earns weekly honor from conference
???On Monday, junior guard Rodney Pierce was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Co-Player of the Week. The honor, shared by Miami's Michael Bramos, is the second Pierce has earned this season.
???Pierce has scored at least 20 points in three straight games, making him the first place since Calvin Cage during the 2005-06 season to do so. Tuesday night, he scored a game-high 20 points in addition to five rebounds against Akron.
???On Sunday, Pierce had his best game of the season against Ohio, with 27 points, seven rebounds and one assist. It was the first time the Bulls won a game at the Convocation Center.
Kourtney Brown named MAC East player of the week
???Redshirt sophomore forward Kourtney Brown was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week after her performance against Bowling Green and Akron.
???Last Wednesday, Brown scored 30 points against nationally ranked Bowling Green. She then added 25 points and 16 rebounds in Buffalo's win versus Akron on Saturday.
???Brown leads the Bulls in scoring with an average of 16.6 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, 43 blocks and a .577 field goal percentage.
???It was the third time Brown earned the award this season.
