Basketball earns televised Bracketbuster game, national attention

The men's basketball team's current win streak has grabbed the attention of fans nationwide. In addition, it has also garnered credibility from ESPN.

Buffalo has been selected to play in a televised ESPNU Bracketbuster game. ESPN announced that the Bulls will play at Vermont on Feb. 21. Game time will be announced later in the week, along with the channel that will broadcast the game. Vermont is currently 16-6 overall and leads the American East with a 7-2 conference record.

In addition, the Bulls have been listed in Joe Lunardi's weekly Bracketology. The college basketball analyst for ESPN has Buffalo as the No. 13 seed in the South Region. They are slated to play against Butler, a No. 4 seed.

The Bulls have also caught the eyes of Mid-Major coaches nationwide. They have voted Buffalo into collegeinsider.com's Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Buffalo is currently ranked number 18. They are the only MAC school to make the poll.

Desi Green named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week

Desi Green of the men's wrestling team was named MAC Wrestler of the Week after his win over a nationally ranked opponent.

In Buffalo's dual meet against Central Michigan, the redshirt-freshman captured a one-point victory over Chippewa's wrestler Steve Brown, ranked 10th in the nation in the 149-pound weight class.

Green currently stands undefeated in the MAC at 3-0. He also leads the Bulls in takedowns, falls, overall wins and dual meet wins. Green is also tied for first in technical falls and reversals.

Green is tied for 14th place in school history with 14 dual meet victories this season.
