Super Bowl XXLII-The Spectrum Staff Predictions

???On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers will attempt to win their sixth Super Bowl in team history. Standing in their way are the Arizona Cardinals, a team that was never taken seriously in the NFC West. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and his team are looking for their second victory in the past decade while Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals are in their first Super Bowl in team history after an astounding postseason thus far.

???Members of The Spectrum's Editorial Board have a plethora of predictions on all things Super Bowl, ranging from who will become World Champions to which player will be at the wrong place at the wrong time on Saturday.

Who will win Super Bowl XLIII?

Stephen Marth (Senior Sports Editor): Kurt Warner and the Cardinals will shock the world and win the team's first championship. The Warner-to-Fitzgerald duo is too much for anyone, even Pittsburgh's amazing defense. 35-30 in favor of Arizona.

Chris Ryndak (Senior Managing Editor): Pittsburgh will win it. The Cardinals will keep it close, but the better team will come on top, 28-20.

Aaron Moe (Asst. Sports Editor): Even though I'm rooting for the Cardinals, I think the Steelers are going to win. Their defense is too tough. 24-17 for the Steelers.

Who will be the game's Most Valuable Player?

Dan Mecca (Copy Editor): Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald. He's good.

Chris DiMatteo (News Editor): Although an MVP has been named for a losing team only once, I think Larry Fitzgerald will get it because he's an amazing player that has the ability to change the course of a game.

David Jarka (Asst. News Editor): Ben Rothlisberger will avoid Arizona's suddenly resurgent blitzing and get three scores.

Win or lose, will Kurt Warner make the Hall of Fame?

Marth: While the Cardinals will win, he'd make it anyways. Warner will always be remembered as one of the game's greatest quarterbacks. While he might not match up on the field with some of the greats, what he does for the community is priceless.

David Sanchirico (Sports Editor): It depends. A win will really help him. Warner is a Hall-of-Famer in my eyes. He's a model citizen and an authentic role model. Right now, he wouldn't get in, but a couple successful seasons will help him.

Jake Shillman (Asst. News Editor): Yes. Collectively with the Rams and the Cardinals, he has thrown for 28,591 yards with 182 touchdowns and a 65.4 completion rate. After Sunday, he will have another Super Bowl ring and MVP status on his belt.

Which player will stay out too late doing questionable things and why?

Marth: I don't know about any players, but Mike Tomlin looks like a freak. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets his freak on in downtown Tampa and misses the national anthem.

Sanchirico: Anquan Boldin. Fitzgerald's success has Boldin looking for some attention. Nothing will get him more press than a late night on the town with a couple hunnies from Tampa.

John Ranic (Senior Arts Editor): Troy Polamalu. He's filthy and I'd rather never see him dive after anything again, unless he's diving face first into depression-or the ground after being tackled by his hair.

Which company will have the best Super Bowl commercial and why?

Ryndak: Probably Budweiser.

Jarka: www.godaddy.com always amazes.

Ranic: www.freecreditreport.com . Their songs are always so catchy!

Will the NFL regret having the Super Bowl televised on NBC due to John Madden?

DiMatteo: Yes. Although he is well respected for years as a coach, he is losing his marbles and viewers do not like his pointless and obvious comments.

Ryndak: NBC might regret letting Madden babble to millions, but he has had the gig before. The NFL could care less. They're still getting the TV revenue and people are still going to watch.

Ranic: Hearing Van Miller slowly fade away hurt. Watching Madden try to finish his words is pure entertainment.
