Women's basketball adds two to program
Women's basketball head coach Linda Hill-MacDonald revealed on Monday that two players have signed letters of intent to become Bulls for the 2009-2010 season.
Nicki Hopkins of Bath, Ohio and Amy Gardner of Medina, Ohio both look to have an immediate impact on the team when they begin play.
Football players honored
Junior running back James Starks and sophomore kicker A.J. Principe were named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week and East Division Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.
The MAC honored both on Monday following the Bulls 43-40 fourth-overtime win over Akron.
Starks racked up 241 yards of total offense and three touchdowns against the Zips on Thursday. He had 37 carries for 151 yards on the ground and tied a school record with a single reception for 90 yards. He is also Buffalo's first-ever player to rush for over 1,000 yards twice in his career (2007 and 2008).
Principe had season-high three field goals, including a game-winning 40-yard field goal in the fourth overtime. With the three field goals, Principe now has 25 career field goals, third best in school history and he now has the second most points by a kicker (140) in history with 140.
