"The great Ska-core serenade, lit by Streetlight"

Skanking, converse sneakers and flat caps were the fashion Saturday night as Streetlight Manifesto and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones blew their horns at the Town Ballroom.

???Streetlight held true to the eccentric style that made Everything Goes Numb a ska treasure with songs from their new album Somewhere In The Between.???

???Lead singer/guitarist Tomas Kalnoky ran through each melody with such immense energy that a weaker man would have collapsed. The saxophone, trombone and trumpet players put together jaw-dropping solos that would have easily impressed the legends of brass and woodwinds.

???Streetlight performed most of their well-memorized hits including "We Will Fall Together," "Somewhere In The Between," "Point/Counterpoint" and "Keasby Nights."

???The band's set was more like a whirlwind of ska than a slow and steady marathon as they breezed through their stage time.

???Streetlight Manifesto appeared to steal the show as some of the crowd dispersed after their set. The air wasn't as stagnant or claustrophobic when the headliners took the stage, but the fans that remained were even louder and more intense.

???Lights dimmed as the famous anthem "War" by Norman Whitfield and Edwin Starr shattered the speakers and ignited cheers. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones strolled out in classic '90s fashion and belted out their ska-core style.

???Famous for their plaid suits and powerful brass, the Bosstones proved why they have endured many years in the music business. While the crowd didn't follow the normal decorum of a Bosstones show, plaid still made a return as a few die-hard fans dressed up for the occasion.

???Dicky Barrett's gruff voice sang such hits as "So Sad To Say," "Someday I Suppose" and "The Impression That I Get." Although the brass section didn't perform a sweaty workout like Streetlight, they showed more polish and a deeper level of maturity.

???Fan relations ran high as the band brought crowd surfers on stage to sing along and practice their best dance moves alongside band dancer, Ben Carr.

???The Bosstones thanked Buffalo for many years of support, took a bow, said goodnight and content concertgoers left the venue with steamy bodies and smiles extending from ear to ear.
