On Friday at approximately 9:55 p.m., an unknown suspect demanded money after grabbing and putting a gun to a UB student's stomach at 65 Custer Street.
Initial reports indicated the victim was not injured, according to Buffalo Police Department Spokesperson Michael DeGeorge.
The suspect attacked two different individuals within a span of 10 minutes, DeGeorge said. The victims appear to have been walking alone at the time of the robberies.
"It appears there were two individuals and they struck in a 10-minute period. One taking the cell phone there was another individual," DeGeorge said. "They made off with a wallet with a credit card and keys from one victim. Then another five minutes later they made off with a cell phone from another victim."
A University Police Department alert was issued after the student reported the incident on Saturday.
The first suspect is described as a black male about 21 years old with a medium build and approximately 6-foot-4-inches tall. He was described wearing a gray hoodie and a black vest, according to the UPD alert
At the time, the suspect was not alone. The second suspect is described as a black male, about 5-foot-4-inches tall and 130 pounds, wearing a brown hoodie at the time.
Students are advised to be vigilant at all times and to report unusual or suspicious activity to the University Police at 645-2222. Confidential tips or information may be reported to the Buffalo Police at 847-2255.
"We always stress for individuals to know your surroundings as much as possible and try to not to walk alone. Carrying a cell phone is a great thing, but people get distracted," DeGeorge said.
