Willy in top 10 for Unitas "Golden Arm" Award

The running for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award has been narrowed from 26 athletes to 10 athletes, with senior quarterback Drew Willy one of the finalists for the prestigious award.

The award will be presented by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. and Transamerica, a provider of business and personal financial services.

Willy joins nine other collegiate quarterbacks who are still in contention for the award. The most notable candidates are Missouri's Chase Daniel, Texas Tech's Graham Harrell, Alabama's John Parker Wilson and West Virginia's Pat White. This season, Willy has completed 61.3 percent of his passes, for 1,456 yards and 12 touchdowns against four interceptions.

Last year's award winner was Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan, now a quarterback with the Atlanta Falcons. Other past winners includes: Brady Quinn (Notre Dame, 2006), Matt Leinart (USC, 2005), Eli Manning (Ole Miss, 2003) and Carson Palmer (USC, 2002).
