Get ready - Fall Fest '88 is coming

Eighties rap fans can come out of hibernation on Sept. 27 and strap on their unlaced Adidas Superstars, eye patches and ungodly big gold chains to cheer on their favorite rap stars of yesteryear.

Slick Rick, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane and Biz Markie will be performing along side recently announced performers Nas and Ludacris.

Slick Rick, whose real name is Ricky Walters, was recently in the news after receiving a pardon from Gov. David Paterson in June for attempted murder charges of two men, according to ricktheruler.com.

His album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick debuted in 1988 and became one of the first rap albums to go platinum. His fourth and latest album was released in 1999 and featured Nas, OutKast and Snoop Dogg among other artists.

KRS-One, another rapper whose career peaked during the late '80s and early '90s with album Edutainment, will also be performing at Fall Fest.

Another recent addition to Fall Fest is Big Daddy Kane, an M.C. from Brooklyn, who claims to have brought the "playa" element to hip-hop. His first album Long Live the Kane debuted in 1988.

Biz Markie, former member of the Juice Crew and rapper known for song "Just a Friend," will also be performing in this year's show.

Fall Fest begins at 6 p.m. in Alumni Arena. Undergraduates will be able to attend for free when doors open at 5 p.m. with valid UB identification.
