Women blamed wrongly for domestic issues

To the Editor:

(In response to "No daddy, no problem," Feb. 18) First, everyone has a "Daddy" and DNA helps establish this!

Second, the New York State Child Support Standard Act states that a non-custodial parent which is usually the father may pay child support to the tune of 17 percent for one child, 25 percent for two children, 29 percent for three children, 31 percent for four children, and 35 percent for five plus children. The only thing that is deducted before child support is calculated is FICA. It is very important to note that if a man owes two separate women child support for one child each that he could pay as much as 34 percent of his income on child support.

Third, I don't personally know of any woman who is raising children alone who is having a "cozy lifestyle." What I have seen and heard about is heartbreak, struggle, and condemnation.

Fourthly, stop blaming mothers and start teaching men to be responsible for their behavior. I like what Jesse Jackson says and I'm paraphrasing, "Any boy can have a baby, but it takes a man to raise a child."

Finally, for all the uninformed, more than 80 percent of government expenditures go to the middle class; while less than 20 percent go to the poor. So bitter writer of the above mentioned article and all those who like to condemn and judge others remember this saying and I'm paraphrasing, "The greatness of a society can be measured by how it treats its weakest citizens."
