McDowell named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week
Sophomore diver Michael McDowell was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The mathematics major won three of the four events he competed in at the Bulls swim meets last week. McDowell has maintained a 3.901 grade point average. While the Bulls fell to Eastern Michigan, McDowell's wins in the one-meter event and the three-meter event helped Buffalo defeat Ball State for the team's first league win of the season. McDowell is the second Bull to achieve the honor this season, following Andrea Vescio of the women's soccer team earlier this month.
Vescio named to Academic All-MAC Team
Sophomore Andrea Vescio of the women's soccer team was named to the 2007 Women's Soccer Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team for the second consecutive year. Vescio, a management major maintaining a 3.99 grade-point average, led the Bulls in scoring with 17 points, totaling six goals and five assists. The award is voted on by the league's faculty athletics representatives, with only 26 players named to the team.
