Season complete as Bulls are blinded by Flashes

The women's volleyball team took on the Kent State Golden Flashes in the first round of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship tournament. On their home court, the fifth seed Golden Flashes won the match in three games (30-19, 30-11, 30-14) over the 12th seed Bulls.

The Golden Flashes (20-9, 11-5 MAC) played at championship level as they out-performed the Bulls (2-31, 1-15 MAC) in several areas of the game. Kent State out-hit the Bulls, .420 to .075, out-dug the Bulls 49 to 34, and out-blocked with two solo blocks, eight block assists and zero errors while the Bulls had no stops and five blocking errors.

Throughout the three-game match, Kent State played a strong offensive game. The Flashes stayed consistent as a team and didn't hit under a .333 percentage in any of the three games.

Buffalo played hard but fell short. While the Bulls fought their best in the opening game, hitting .176, all three games were battles that were ultimately lost. Errors plagued the Bulls for most of the night. The match ended with three Buffalo errors in a row: a missed serve, a reception error, and a hitting error.

"I give Kent State credit, they played very well," said head coach Jim Lodes. "But we were disappointed in our inability to execute to the level we played Saturday night against Miami (OH)."
