"It's coming down to the wire, and there's a Falcon sitting on it"

With the Miami Red Hawks defeating the Akron Zips 7-0 on Wednesday night, Buffalo must win against the Bowling Green Falcons this weekend to force a tie in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division.

The Bulls (4-6, 4-2 MAC) have not yet lost MAC game at home, and have only lost once this season within the confines of UB Stadium.

"We are very good as far as home games this season. We hope to finish this season outright going undefeated at home as far as MAC conference home games," said head coach Turner Gill.

Bowling Green (6-4, 4-2 MAC) has a dynamic offense led by quarterback Tyler Sheehan. The Falcons are third in the conference in points per game, averaging over 31. While the Falcons pass the ball well, their defense against the pass is even better. Bowling Green is ranked first in the MAC in pass defense allowing only 202 yards per game through the air.

"Bowling Green is a good football team," Gill said. "They do a great job in a quarterback spot, so they have a dimension on both sides of the ball. They can stop you on the defensive side and score on the offensive side, so we have to play our best football game to be successful."

If the Bulls are to win, they will need to rely on the rushing attack that has produced 16 touchdowns this season, good enough for fourth in the MAC on the ground. UB's sophomore running back James Starks rushed for 154 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries in the Bulls' last game. Starks is only 88 yards shy of becoming the first Buffalo player to rush for 1,000 yards in one season since the Bulls reentered Division I.

Junior quarterback Drew Willy has gone 23 quarters and 159 passes without throwing an interception, the longest current streak in the NCAA. Willy had an up and down game against the RedHawks, completing 33-45 passes for over 200 yards and two touchdowns. However, he was sacked six times, including on the Bulls' final drive during which he fumbled the ball, costing the Bulls their shot at a comeback.

Buffalo's scoring defense is ranked 3rd in the MAC. This year they give up on average 27 points per game as opposed to 34 points during last year's season. On offense, the Bulls lead the MAC, converting 30 of 33 opportunities inside of the red zone with 21 of them resulting in touchdowns.

With a chance at earning a spot in a bowl game, 16 Buffalo seniors will don the blue and white for their final home game for the final time.

"This one is really important to us. It's the last time I ever get to play at UB stadium," said senior defensive lineman Trevor Scott. "It's going to be emotional you know for all the seniors because like I said it's our last game. We can't let that affect us we just have to go out and play the best game we can."
