For those of you who think Michael Moore is not American, consider this:
Approximately 25 percent of Americans obtain a Bachelors degree; therefore, if you graduate from UB with a 4-year degree you are on paper or degree more educated than 75 percent of Americans. What does this mean?
I hope this means that you don't judge a book by its cover. You know, discrimination is about more than just race and religion. It's about things like weight, age, health condition, and material possessions or the lack thereof. You care if Michael Moore is fat, I'm fat, but are we so shallow that we can't separate the message from the messenger. Also, did you know that being overweight is the number one reason why children are bullied in schools?
Michael Moore has a big mouth, I have a big mouth, but I thought freedom of speech was American. Of course, I know differently. Try it at your job. You'll find the bosses at your lunch table trying to intimidate you. Try it at UB and you hear things like, you need to stay focused on the positive.
What's positive about a country whose union membership is about 10 percent? What's positive about approximately 45 million Americans without health insurance? What's positive about the minimum wage of $7.15 an hour in America when you can't even make ends meet without being on some kind of government program (you know that dirty word: WELFARE)? What's positive about a government who steals from its most vulnerable citizens? Yes, the government steals child support from women and children. What's positive about gated communities? We have one going up in Amherst that will house 117 families. These homes will cost between $1/2 million and $1 million, while the mentally ill in this country are put on the streets and are homeless. What's positive about 1 million homeless people in America? The list goes on.
I hope we didn't come to go college to become judgmental, kiss-ass
