An open letter to the University Community

With the upcoming holiday weekend, it is important to remind our community of a few important safety concerns. The following areas are of special concern:

Automobile accidents continue to be the biggest danger to our community members. Always wear a seat belt and avoid distractions such as cellular phones.

Alcohol-related accidents are always a concern in any community.

DON'T BE A VICTIM:

1. There is always safety in numbers: walk in groups of three or more.

2. Lock doors and windows whenever leaving your residence and leave a light on.

3. Never leave anything in your vehicle.

4. Students are good targets for robberies - particularly in urban areas.

5. Always be cognizant of your surroundings.

6. If you go to a party, plan in advance to leave with a friend, and leave with that friend.

7. Look out for your friends and neighbors.

Have a great semester and call the University at Buffalo POLICE for assistance at 716-645-2222 or call from a Blue Light Phone.
