One year ago I made a promise to serve the Undergraduate students here at the University at Buffalo, a part of a community of which I have called my home for the past 18 years. I would like to thank all the students for giving me a chance and coming out to vote. My election last spring truly showed me how every vote counts.
Thank you to all students who supported me as your Vice President. I am very proud to be able to call myself a leader here at the University at Buffalo. I truly believe I have helped benefit the University at Buffalo in the four years I have been here, which can be a hard task to accomplish.
Since May 1, 2007, my administration and the SA staff have been able to fulfill the platform we ran on by doing the following: extending library hours in Capen Library, purchasing new vans for all clubs to use, increasing lighting on campus, we brought you Sean Paul, Cam' Ron, RDB, Soul Live, Tommy Davidson, Jeff Ross, and others, increased entertainment on campus, and increased community involvement with the clubs by implementing "UB Gettin' Dirty" and many more. We increased communication with the administration to express the needs of UB students.
It was nice to know that students were not afraid to come to my office and speak their minds and ask for changes. Students knew of my open door policy and I am very glad they took advantage of it.
Even though my fours years at the University are up on May 13th, I know improvements will continue to cultivate. I would like to remind all students that every undergraduate student is a member of the Student Association. Every student pays $79.75 every semester through their mandatory activity fee. Every student should take advantage of the services which this organization offers. I encourage students to voice their opinion to make changes and enhance the Student Association, whether it is directly to the organization or newspaper on campus. You elect the officials who represent you, make sure they do so correctly.
To any student who wishes to get involved, I encourage all students to start their journey through SA with the Assembly. I did four years ago and it helped me grow as an individual and meet many people at this University. SA offers a variety of clubs which any undergraduate can partake in, a TV station, channel 46, where you can fine tune your media skills; or you can write for VISIONS, our student run magazine.
Thank you to the over 18,000 undergraduate students at UB! Thank you for your time and best of luck in your future endeavors. I am greatly honored to have been able to represent the undergraduate students here at the University at Buffalo.
