Final three players join Bulls

The Bulls have filled the last three positions on the football roster by awarding scholarships to sophomore outside linebacker David Hubbard, freshman safety Chris Storr and kicker Taylor Packwood. The three have been with the team since the beginning of the summer. All three will be looking to make an immediate impact, as Packwood will be the new starting kicker.

All three players have past experience in more then one sport, and have been standouts on the football field. Hubbard joins the Bulls from a community college in California where he led his team to a conference title. Storr hails from Michigan and played baseball and football in high school earning All-American honors in both. Head coach Turner Gill recruited Packwood from his home state in Texas where Packwood attended nationally recognized Bishop Lynch High School where his team won the state title last season.

Calling a few good men

The Bulls baseball team will be holding open tryouts for the upcoming 2007 season on September 8. To be eligible for the tryouts any students interested should sign up in room 163B of Alumni Arena before the day of tryouts. If you need any other information you can contact assistant coach Jim Koerner.

Bulls' alumnus heads for gold

One of the top three college wrestlers in the country last season, Kyle Cerminara, has kept busy since graduating from Buffalo in the spring. In July he won the 212-pound weight division in the Canada Cup. Cerminara, representing the New York Athletic Conference, beat Mike Neufeld of Canada for the victory.

Cerminara's goal is to compete in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, and is entering the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. While wrestling for the Bulls, Cerminara finished with an overall record of 137-35.

Top Bulls announced

The athletics department announced sophomore Dan Gwyther and senior Heidi Griffiths as players of the week. Gwyther scored the game-winner against Pittsburgh to give UB its first road season-opening victory since 2000. Griffiths scored two goals to lead the Bulls past regional rival St. Bonaventure.
