Haag's rules for being a Yankees fan fly foul

Letters To The Editor

I have to strongly disagree with (Justin Haag's) points about having to have been a fan of the Yankees when they couldn't reach .500 in order to be a real fan (Sept. 1, "Yankee disease")

First of all, the Yankees haven't finished below .500 since 1992. That'd mean that you'd accept the fact that someone like myself born in 1986 would've had to known a great deal about baseball when I was 6. Otherwise, I couldn't be a real fan.

Also, Tartabull was never their lone home run threat. They really didn't have one for the three full seasons he played in the pinstripes. Though he did lead the team, Bernie Williams, Don Mattingly, Mike Stanley and Jim Leyritz were more feared. And, once O'Neil came he was more feared.
