Bulls point horns in the right direction

Buffalo's volleyball team never let The Niagara Purple Eagles take flight at the Gallagher Center on Tuesday night, as the Bulls swept them 3-0. Coming off a three-game losing skid, the Bulls were able to get back to their winning ways, taking every game by at least four points (30-26, 30-22, 30-26).

The third and decisive game saw the Bulls (11-5) fall behind early by a score of 10-3. The Bulls stomped their way back into the match though on an 11-1 run that gave Buffalo its first lead of the game at 13-11. In spite of that, the Purple Eagles would not go away easily, taking the lead back at 24-21. However, the Bulls showed their tenacity, finishing Niagara off on a 9-2 spurt to claim the match.

Leading the charge for the Bulls were seniors Jenna Map?(c) who had a match-high 11 kills and Brandie Clark with a team high 24 assists. Junior Lizaiha Garcia contributed a match-best 13 digs to the cause.

Freshman Kelsey Leuders, who is tied for the Mid-American Conference lead with 1.39 blocks per game, was true to form and led the Bulls with seven in the match, which helped earn the Bulls a 13-5 advantage in blocks. Leuders was also influential in serving, as she gave the Bulls four straight points during their third game comeback.

Buffalo will now open its MAC schedule when they host Kent State on Friday night, before welcoming Ohio on Saturday. Both games will be played at Alumni Arena and are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
