Black's letter criticizes others who voice opinions

Bob Black's ("Dalai Lama an inappropriate speaker choice," Sept. 20) comments on the inappropriateness of the Dalai Lama speaker choice is sure an amusing one, seeing that his comments emanate racism and prejudice against all other with the exception of the Chinese Student Association and Campus Crusade for Christ.

A few things to clarify. UB did not order students to "herd into the stadium," students were made aware of an historic visit and if they choose to attend, they should. An important figure can be anyone who in the world have made a contribution to society or have held an important position in society. Whether if it were the pope, president, Dalai Lama, an important scientist who have found cure to cancer, a teacher who has inspired a nation, a nobody who have made a courageous act, anyone would have been welcomed to UB.

Black's letter to the editor stems a voice of prejudice and anger, which reads that if others who do not share your thoughts and beliefs are condemned for standing their own grounds. (You are) expressing your hate to the rest of us who happen to appreciate a lecture that encourages us to be compassionate and warm-hearted to the entire human race.
