On Tuesday, the football team announced its 2006 schedule and is set to play stiff competition during its 12-game season, including Wisconsin, Auburn, and Boston College.
Turner Gill's first year as a head coach will begin with a home opener against Temple on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m.
The Bulls will then pack their bags and head on the road for three straight weeks, facing Mid-American Conference opponents Bowling Green and Northern Illinois and Southeastern Conference force Auburn.
Buffalo's game against Auburn is the first time the university has ever faced an SEC opponent on the gridiron and will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23 in Auburn, Ala.
Following the game against the Tigers, the men in blue and white have a bye week.
Gill's squad then returns to the turf of UB Stadium for a two-game stint against Ball State and Miami (Ohio). The Ball State game, played on Saturday, Oct. 7, will be part of UB's Homecoming Weekend.
The football team will play away to end the month of October, heading to Ohio and Boston College.
Buffalo will see Kent State at home on Saturday, Nov.4 and then the team's Thursday, Nov. 9 game at Akron will be on ESPNU.
The Bulls will come off their nationally broadcast game to face another national name in collegiate football, Wisconsin. Buffalo will head to The Cheese State on Saturday, Nov. 18.
Gill will then finish his first season of coaching at UB Stadium on Friday, Nov. 24 against MAC opponent Central Michigan. This will be the first time in Division I history that the football team has hosted a game over Thanksgiving week.
