Paramount Pictures comes to Buffalo to tell the tale of the 2005 football season

In a little over a month three special words will be echoing across the University at Buffalo's campus: Lights! Camera! ACTION!

As the students begin to head home for summer break, Paramount Pictures will be coming into town to shoot its newest movie, which will be an in-depth look at the dramatic Bulls football season of 2005. This will be an unusual story for the film company, which usually only does stories where teams are successful, or have some sort of competitive season.

"We were really looking for something different," said Brady O'Shea of Paramount Pictures. "We usually go with teams that lose at the beginning and then get good, or a team that's great and then loses in the end. This time we get to see the story of a team that pretty much loses all the time. It's a really unique story."

The expected high point of the film is currently thought to be the Bulls only win on the season, which was its first-ever Mid-American Conference road win, and came just after the firing of the team's head coach.

"This is just a wild story," said director Jerry Bruckheimer. "We've got a gold mine here. No one has ever done a story about a team that performed that poorly in the win-loss column."

The only real opposition to the film has been former head coach Jim "Jimbo" Hofher, who has been jobless since his untimely dismissal in November.

"Does this really make any sense? Think about it," Hofher said. "You know if you want to drive to Arizona you're probably going to have to drive through Missouri!"

Sources within Paramount have no idea what Hofher has been talking about. Paramount has been avoiding his calls and requests to name the movie "Hofher's Unlucky Years." These same sources claim that the film has already been named.

"They wanted something that really fit," said a Paramount employee that wished to remain anonymous. "I know for a fact that 'Remember the Shutouts' has been selected. They chose it over 'Saturday Afternoon Buffoons' and 'Buffalo Blues.' "

The movie planners have suggested highlighting the first two losses of the season, which the Bulls lost 0-38 to Connecticut and 0-31 to Syracuse, as well as the anti-climactic season finale, a 14-38 loss to Eastern Michigan.

Starring as Hofher will be Christopher Walken, who unlike Hofher has brought a can-do, winning attitude to the role. Bulls' athletic director Warde Manuel expressed some concerns with Walken's attitude.

"He's going to need to lose that winning attitude if he wants to really portray Hofher," said Manuel, who will be played by Michael Clarke Duncan.

Walken recognizes the challenge but is still positive that he can do the job.

"It's going to be a very. Tough role," Walken said. "This 'Jimbo' character is known, for saying. Some really confusing statements but it seems, as if he always comes off very confident when he says them."

There are only a few roles that need to be filled. Bruckheimer has shown interest in giving Keanu Reeves the role as Bulls quarterback Drew Willy. However, James Van Der Beek and Paul Walker have also auditioned.

"Having a guy like Keanu in a movie is always a good idea," Bruckheimer said. "We know that he is really too old to portray a player and he's a really monotone '90s actor, but people just eat his stuff up. We would love to have him on board with us."

Keanu is very interested in continuing his acting career, and is expected to be meeting with Bruckheimer this week to discuss his potential role as Willy.

"Like, totally, this film sounds bodacious," Reeves said. "From what I'm hearing, some people think it could be almost as big as 'Point Break.' and I was like, so gnarly in that movie. People like totally think 'quarterback' when they see me."

"Remember the Shutouts" is set to begin taping next month with or without Reeves, and is expected to hit the big screen this winter.
