Women's Soccer team earns Silver
After a season filled with sportsmanship, the women's soccer team was honored for its fair and ethical play during its 2005 campaign. The Bulls received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Ethics/Sportsmanship Silver Award, receiving only two yellow-cards and no red cards.
For a team to qualify for the silver award, it must go through the season receiving a maximum of five yellow cards, and no red cards.
The NSCAA also has gold and bronze awards for teams qualify. Gold awards are for teams that receive neither a yellow nor red card throughout the year, and a bronze award is for a team that receives a maximum of 10 yellow cards and no red cards.
Gill makes another addition
Adding to what is already considered one of the best recruiting classes the Bulls have had since entering the Mid-American Conference, Buffalo head coach Turner Gill announced the signing of running back Brandon Thermilus on Friday.
Thermilus is the son of former NFL running back Alonzo Highsmith. While becoming a Texas Class 5A All-District selection, the injury-plagued senior set a school record with 251-yards rushing in a single game, averaging 5.5 yards per carry and scored 11 touchdowns.
The 5-foot 11-inch 210-pound running back is the 15th player to sign a letter of intent to play for the Bulls next fall. Gill's first recruiting class is ranked fourth in the conference by rivals.com, which is only the second time that the Bulls have been ranked in the top five since entering the Mid-American Conference in 1998.
