At school


The Undergraduate Painting Exhibition opens to the public this Friday in the Center for the Arts. Located in B45 (the lower level). Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.


The Buffalo Film Seminars continue Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Market Arcade Film and Arts Center. Diane Christian and Bruce Jackson introduce the film each week and hold an open discussion after the show. Go to http://csac.buffalo.edu/bfs.html for more information.

Coming to Rust Belt Books this Fri. at 7 p.m. is BorderBlur, a panel discussion on the "state" of Canadian poetry will take place, followed by a poetry reading to celebrate the new anthology "Shift and Switch: New Canadian Poetry." Located at 202 Allen St.


The Vino Lounge Winebar, located on 3112 Main St., held its grand opening Tuesday night.

The Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday that it plans to buy out partner Pixar Animation Studios Inc. for $7.4 billion in order to revive Disney's floundering animation front as well as make Pixar CEO Steve Jobs Disney's biggest shareholder, officials say.

In his boldest move since the George Bush comment, Kanye West bears a crown of thorns as Jesus for the cover of the latest Rolling Stone issue. The confident rapper also poses as Mohammed Ali for the inside spread.


Audiences were taken aback at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival when Bob Goldthwait premiered his film about a woman-dog love story. "Stay" (not to be confused with the 2005 Marc Forster movie) tells of a woman who desperately tries to hide the truth from her partner after committing a devious act one evening with her pooch.
