National consideration
It may be only one vote, but when that vote is for the Associated Press Men's Basketball Top 25 poll, it's huge for a school many feel failed to get the national attention it deserved last year.
The UB men's basketball team received its first vote in school history on Monday in the national poll voted on by members of the AP. Aside from the top 25, there were 24 other schools that received votes, including reigning Mid-American Conference champions Ohio, who received 14 votes.
North Carolina State took the number 25 spot this week with 127 votes while powerhouse Duke nabbed the top spot with 1,767 votes.

Wrestling powerhouse Kyle Cerminara and basketball stalwart Brooke Meunier were each recognized as UB's athletes of the week, as both Bulls also received further recognition on the individual level from the Mid-American Conference.
Cerminara, the 197-pound force of the wrestling team, was announced as UB's Male Athlete of the Week as well as MAC Wrestler of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Cerminara is currently riding a 19-0 winning streak and has 114 victories under his belt as a UB wrestler, recently breaking the school's career win mark.
Female athlete of the week honors went to Meunier of the women's basketball team. The senior guard had stellar performances against Lafayette and Niagara in the team's last two games. Meunier helped lead her team to victories in both games, the first time the team has won back-to-back road games since the 2002-2003 season.
Meunier averaged 18 points and 6.5 assists in the two games, also earning her MAC East Player of the Week.
