Volleyball falls short in playoffs
The Bulls ended their season on Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to Miami (Ohio) in the first round of the MAC tournament. The Bulls fell to the RedHawks by scores of 30-22, 30-22 and 30-25 in the three-game sweep. UB finished its season with a record of 11-20.
Junior Lauren Burd had a team-high 12 kills and finished with a .391 hitting percentage on the day. Senior Katie Weekly finished her UB career just three kills shy of reaching the 1,000 mark.
Swimming loses to Bonnies
The women's swimming and diving team traveled to St. Bonaventure University on Wednesday and were defeated 210.5 to 89.5. The Bulls failed to win any of the 16 events.
Junior Kahla Walkinshaw, however, tied St. Bonaventure's Stefanie Belke in the 200 freestyle with a second place time of 1:56.54. Freshman Rachel Sorg also took home a second place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.15 and in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.15, and in the 400 medley relay as the team's first leg.
The Bulls will take a vacation from competition over Thanksgiving before attending the Summa Care Invitational in Akron from Dec 2 through Dec 4.
MAC academic honors
Junior Daniel Bell and sophomores John Decarlo and Frank Stagnitta of the men's soccer team were three of 12 players to be named to the Academic All-MAC team. As a political science major, Bell carries a 3.5 GPA while Decarlohas a 3.7 GPA as an undecided major and Stagnitta holds a 3.9 as a mechanical engineering major.
Top dog is Top Drawer
Andrae Clarke, the points leader of the men's soccer team, was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Men's College National Team. Clarke was the only Bull named to the Internet-based team. Clarke led the Bulls in all three major offensive categories this season as he tallied nine goals, 11 assists and 29 points.
