Cheers to responsible editing and writing. First, I thank the editor publishing "Not homophobia, rejecting homosexuality" (Oct. 7), the response to another article. A brave move, most newspapers nowadays try to steer clear of non-majority opinion, when it is the "uncool" or "non-conformist" opinion at the time. This goes hand-in-hand with my next "cheers," which goes to Silas Rader for writing, "Pop conforming."
Bashing the president has become almost "politically correct" and is the safest road to travel, when politics are involved. It's nice to see that someone else has recognized the need to respect our president on at least one level - the base level of humanity: as a person. He is a human being, whose dignity does not need to be ripped to shreds and treated as a pitiful-idiot-case by our "charitable" elitist society (the ones who can read that is).
If everyone put as much time and effort into offering help or solutions to problems as they did into criticizing our president, the nation would probably turn on its heels and actually progress. If anything our president strikes me as more brave than most of us will ever have to be. I count myself blessed that I will never have to face even half the decisions that man has faced and against all odds, still carries himself with dignity and strength, in the face of the most critical and fickle of all - the worldwide one. His demeanor should be an example to all of us, if nothing else. So thanks for not conforming and actually using your brain to recognize basic human injustice. It's endearing and appreciated.
