Records are meant to be broken
With half the season behind them, the men's and women's soccer teams are en route to becoming record breakers.
Senior goaltender Anna-Lesa Calvert is on pace to break 300 career saves this weekend. Calvert is just seven saves away from the milestone and averages six saves a game. Once Calvert surpasses the mark, she will be the third goaltender in conference history to accomplish the feat.
Calvert will have two chances this weekend to rake in the seven saves, with the women's soccer team at Eastern Michigan Friday and Central Michigan on Sunday.
Junior forward Andrae Clark is making strides of his own on the soccer field. Clark currently has nine assists this season, tying the school record for assists in a season. With one more assist over the weekend, Clark will move into the number one spot in UB record books.
Just as Calvert has two opportunities to reach her mark, Clark will have chances for an assist on Friday night at home versus Canisius and at Boston University on Sunday.
Row, row, row your boat
The UB rowing team opens its season this weekend at the Head of the Ohio. This is the first of five races in the team's fall schedule. For the full story, log on to spectrum.buffalo.edu.
Leaders of the pack
Men's tennis has three members touting identical singles records in the fall season. Junior Mike Rockman, sophomore Nikesh Singh Panthlia, and freshman Octavian Stane are all leading the pack with a 5-2 record.
Rockman, Singh Panthlia and Stane look to continue their success this weekend at home, as the Bulls host their first home match against St. Francis (Penn.) this Saturday at 1 p.m. This is the first time UB will see competition outside of flight competition.
