MAC honors for Vance
Sarah Vance, of the UB women's track and field team, had a record-setting day on Saturday at the UB Open. Vance broke the school record for the discus throw with a toss of 156-7. In recognition of her performance, Vance was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Field co-Athlete of the Week. She shares those honors this week, with Akron's hammer thrower Amy Lavalley.
This is the third award that a woman thrower on the track and field team has received this season and the first one won by someone other than Faith Thompson.
In addition to the conference award, Vance qualified for the NCAA regional meet in Manhattan, which will be held on Memorial Day weekend.
Winning streak watch
UB's softball team has achieved a season-long winning streak with its two victories over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. The Bulls' streak is now at seven wins and UB has improved its record to 17-23 and 6-2 on the season.
The Bulls will look to continue their winning ways when they grab their gloves and enter a weekend conference series at Bowling Green, set to commence on Saturday.
