UB police arrested five Buffalo residents early Sunday morning for the possession of cocaine with the intent to sell in Clement Hall on South Campus.
John Holland, Gary Holland, Richard Maxwell, Timothy Mack and Twon Robinson were all arrested and charged with criminal possession of narcotics and second-degree trespassing, according to John Grela, director of public safety.
UB police received a call at 3:38 a.m. that five subjects were causing a disturbance, which prompted a patrol to locate their van as they drove off campus.
"They were initially in Clement Hall, and we got a complaint about them knocking on doors," Grela said.
Upon stopping the van, UB police officers noticed a bag of white powder in the back seat, which tested positive for cocaine. There was one bag that contained 17 smaller dime bags totaling 2.1 grams of cocaine, Grela said.
The five men said they had a friend they were looking for in Clement Hall.
According to Grela, John Holland, of 192 LaSalle Ave.; Gary Holland, of 141 Winspear Ave.; Maxwell, of 75 Keystone Ave.; Mack, of 48 North Central Ave.; and Robinson, of 75 Keystone Ave. were arraigned on Monday after spending the night in the Erie County Holding Center.
Grela said the arrest was uncommon but not unusual.
"From time to time we end up arresting people for cocaine," he said.
