Basketball

For only the second time in his career, Turner Battle has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week. The other time Battle has received this honor was on Feb. 2 of last season. Battle has averaged 15 points per game this season while recording a 16-4 assist to turnover ratio through the Bulls' first four games this season. Against Fairleigh Dickinson and Indiana State, Battle compiled 31 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 12 assists. Battle also provided a key assist to UB forward Mark Bortz against Fairleigh Dickinson in the Bulls 87-84 overtime win on Nov. 23.


Volleyball

Katie Weekley, a junior on Buffalo's volleyball team was named to the Academic All-MAC team. She was the only UB player as well as just one of just 18 athletes to earn this honor. Weekley averaged 1.3 blocks per game this season, putting her seventh in the history of UB volleyball. She is a psychology major and has held a 3.791 GPA in addition to being a co-captain for the Bulls this season. Earlier this year, Weekley set a career high in blocks with 14 against Kent State on Oct. 9. She was also the only Bull to start every match this season. Weekley passed the 600-kill mark and the 400-block mark for her career this year. She is currently fourth on the all-time block list, with 406 career blocks.


Men's Tennis

UB head men's tennis coach, Russ Crispell, has been elected president of the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE). The AORE represents nearly 400 professionals who represent colleges, university, military and other types of non-profit organizations around the country. In addition to being the head coach of the UB men's tennis team, Crispell is the Coordinator of Outdoor Pursuits at UB.
