Athletes of the Week

The University at Buffalo announced its male and female athletes of the week. Once again, Jenny Koeppel received the honors for the women while P.J. Piskorik received the award for the men.

Koeppel turned in an individual ninth place finish out of 230 runners to lead the Bulls to a tie for ninth place overall in the team competition. Koeppel has been Buffalo's most consistent runner this year, finishing first for the UB women in every race she has run in, and the NCAA Northeast Regionals was no different. In addition to her stellar finish at the Regionals, Koeppel earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, which are set to take place on Monday, Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, IN.

Piskorik had his best game of the year on Saturday in the Bulls' 36-6 victory against Central Michigan. In UB's last home game of the year, Piskorik threw for a season best 122 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground with 85 yards on ten carries. In his 85 yards on the ground, Piskorik had the longest rush of his career, a 34-yard scamper that set up a four-yard dive into the end zone.

Sanders sports a 3.55 GPA. He leads the UB defensive line with 44 tackles, and posted career bests in tackles-for-a-loss with 11 and sacks with 5.5 on the season.

All-MAC Honors

UB junior linebacker Bryan Cummings earned MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week honors following Buffalo's 36-6 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday at UB Stadium. Cummings led the UB defensive effort with a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown to give the Bulls a 28-0 lead going into halftime. One of four team captains for the Bulls, Cummings also added six tackles and 1.5 sacks. Cummings ranks third on the Bulls in tackles with 60 this season, 34 of those being solo. He was the fourth UB football player to receive All-MAC honors this season, joining teammates Aaron Sanders, Ben Woods and James Evans as honorees.
