Vice President

The Spectrum Endorses: Dela Yador

Dela Yador's message of reducing the exclusivity of the Student Association was a refreshing voice in the race for Student Association vice-president. His experience in working with clubs and in the area of promotion leave him well qualified for the role of SA vice-president, and The Spectrum endorses him for that position.

Yador, who is running with the Elevation Party, believes student apathy toward the Student Association is too high and aims to get more students involved through activities in the Student Union. He is clearly a people person and appears capable of interacting with the student body in an open and friendly way.

Yador is well aware that in the role of vice-president he will be directing the roughly 180 student clubs' SA funds. He outlined plans to bridge the gap between the clubs and the executive board and also has plans to increase the funding to clubs through corporate sponsorship - a realistic goal that will simultaneously increase the amount of money some clubs receive while decreasing the amount of money SA might have to provide those clubs.

With experience in an SA club, the Black Student Union, along with his extensive work as promotions director, Yador is clearly capable of accomplishing his stated goals - increasing awareness and funding of SA clubs.

Melissa Jackmin of the Roots Party also offers an attractive choice for vice president, with extensive experience at UB, especially in the area of building up a club on a limited budget, as shown by her work in reviving Women in Management. However, The Spectrum felt Yador's specific experience in promotion and dealing with an SA club made him a more attractive choice for vice president.
