It has to be every mother's worst nightmare: a hardcore music supergroup.
That's probably the way Some Girls prefer it.
Featuring members of heavy all-stars the Locust, Give Up The Ghost (formerly American Nightmare), Unbroken and Tristeza, "All My Friends Are Going Death" is a collection of two EPs and new material.
The leadoff and title track is a 56-second rip through typical mosh hardcore, as are many of the songs on the record. What brings Some Girls above typical mosh is their tightness, which is not surprising considering their pedigree.
Some Girls almost always has a little metal to add to the mix. "Some Girls Have All the F---"-the best track on the disc-and "Gonna Set My Soul On Fire" pay homage to their metal roots while still maintaining the brutality exercised on their instruments in full.
A special treat comes towards the end of the disc with an impressive rock and roll styled cover of the Stooges' "No Fun." In fact, it's eerily similar to what would happen if they Stooges got themselves a hardcore screamer and some metal distortion.
It'd be nice to say that Some Girls offers something for lovers of any kind of music, but it would also be nice to say that they sell Guinness in vending machines. "All My Friends Are Going Death" is simply for the hardcore enthusiast, and for that breed, it is a special treat.
This comes recommended for fans of Daughters, the Locust and anyone who's down with jamming their entire body through a meat grinder.
