Former teen heartthrob Jonathan Taylor Thomas (affectionately known by his female fans as "JTT") has finally returned. Following years of hibernation from the public eye, Thomas is back in the spotlight.
His career in the '90s included playing the loveable scamp on "Home Improvement" and providing the voice of Simba in Disney's "The Lion King." He was adored for his all-American look and boyish innocence.
JTT has emerged with his debut album. Leading the satanic/goth/metal band, ikilledmufasa, their album, "T3" (Tool Time This!) is an eclectic mix of screaming, various instruments and experimental noises like grunting and burping. The album's cover sums up JTT's new attitude and the group's.
A grown up and utterly different-looking than his days on "Home Improvement" Thomas is standing in a field, doused head to toe in blood while being hit in the head with a two-by-four by a band mate.
A guest appearance is made on track 10 by upcoming rapper, T.I., who raps about being as "wild as the Taliban". His hip-hop flow seems out of place in the track where the band calls to Satan, or as JTT calls him, "Paco."
A more disturbing track, entitled "Teen Idol Badass" consists of JT screaming the words, "Tim Allen" while bagpipes and guitars clash oddly in the background.
In a phone interview, Thomas describes his album.
"This is the real me. There's no Al, no plaid shirts, no more cutesy, teenybopper crap. I no longer go to Wilson for advice. Now I go to Satan," he says, with an obviously fake British accent.
JTT and his band will appear March 31 at the Continental as part of a double-bill with Orgy.
