The Bulls ended their softball season with a record of 18-21 overall (7-13 MAC). Although their record may not be scintillating, the team MVP, Stacey Evans, broke her own school record for strikeouts with 137 and became the career strikeout leader with 238. Her ERA of 1.68 was good for sixth in the conference, and along with that she tallied five shutouts and 21 complete games. Call her whatever you want - the backbone, the glue, the staple - Evans is the heart and soul of the UB softball team.
Evans is not the only dominator on the team, however; Coach's Award winner Breanne Nasti is no slouch either. She was able to finish her second straight season batting over .400. Her average of .402 was sixth in the MAC, and during a 10-game hitting streak between April 13 and April 26, she batted .577. She was second on the team in runs scored (18) and runs batted in (14).
Head coach Marie Curran's Bulls will be playing in a newly-named stadium next year, thanks to a $200,000 donation to the University at Buffalo by UB Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Nan Harvey.
