Mike Radon

Radon, a sophomore quarterback for the UB football team, has announced Tuesday his intentions to transfer from the University at Buffalo to attend a Division I-AA school as yet to be determined. By attending a school classified as "AA," Radon will not be forced to sit out a year due to eligibility rules.

Radon, who was a local star at St. Francis High School, and the 2001 Connolly Cup winner, cited in The Buffalo News the possibility of head coach Jim Hofher going to a two quarterback system during the season as part of the reason for his decision.

Buffalo Bandits

The Bandits will host the Calgary Roughnecks in the first round of the NLL playoffs on Saturday, April 19 at the HSBC Arena at 7 p.m. Buffalo is the No. 4 seed while Calgary is No. 5.

The Roughnecks defeated the Bandits 16-14 on April 14 in Calgary, but Buffalo beat Calgary 23-17 in Buffalo, the clubs' first meeting in January. Of course, Calgary was without superstar forward Tracey Kelusky for the January meeting.

Buffalo started the season 9-1, but went 3-3 down the stretch. The team lost an opportunity to earn the No. 1 seed, a first round bye, and home field throughout the playoffs when they lost to Calgary in their final regular season game.
