1931: Born in Meridien, Conn.

1967: Comes to UB to teach in the School of Law

1968: Named chair of Legal Studies Program

1970: Named provost of the School of Law

1975: Named associate dean of the School of Law

1980: Named associate vice president of Academic Affairs

1983: Named interim vice president for Academic Affairs

1984: Acted as chief academic officer for the Division of Academic Affairs

1984: Named provost

1991: Named interim president

1991: Named president

1993: UB Stadium built

1994: Center for the Arts opened

1998: The Faculty of Arts and Letters merges with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Faculty of Social Sciences to form the College of Arts and Sciences

1999: UB athletics teams elevated to Division I-A status

1999: Hadley Village and Flickenger Court opened

2000: South Lake Village opened

2000: Math building opened

2000: College of Arts and Sciences faces deficit, hiring freeze occurs

2000: Faculty Senate votes ONo ConfidenceO in Greiner administration

2000: Elizabeth Capaldi named provost

2001: Flint Village opened

2001: Plans for Lee Road Project unfold

2002: Creekside Village opened

2003: Greiner announces plans to step down as president to resume position as full-time faculty member
