Men's Cross Country Places First at St. Francis


The UB men's cross country squad captured the Red Flash Invitational this past weekend at St. Francis, Pa. Buffalo scored 27 points to take first place in the six-team field, edging out the host team St. Francis, who accumulated 32.

Todd Ludden was the top finisher for the UB men's squad with a time of 25:42.91, good enough for second place in the eight-kilometer race.

St. Francis' Michael Murry won the men's competition, finishing 11 seconds ahead of Ludden with a time of 25:09.36.

Four other UB men placed in the top 10: Jerimie Slick, Rick Stewart, Joel Beatty and Steve Strelick.

The women's team placed second in their competition, just three points behind St. Francis, who won the event with 57 points.

UB's Melissa Burrows placed second with a time of 19:28.32 in the five-kilometer race.

Sara Raschiatore from Indiana University of Pennsylvania won the women's run, finishing 32 seconds ahead of Burrows.

Both squads will compete in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Saturday.
