Kudos to the editorial staff and webmaster for re-launching the Spectrum Web site. As a 2000 graduate and former Spectrum staff member, I was delighted to find the Spectrum back on the Internet. Before it was shut down a few years ago, my colleagues and I used the Web site as a reference tool and evidence that we were actually providing a service to the university.
Though people in the Buffalo area have easy access to the student newspaper, many former students from places such as the New York City area usually have difficulty obtaining a copy of the Spectrum. While students could have accessed The Reporter on the Internet for school news, many items such as in-depth sports stories and on-campus feature articles would have gone unnoticed. With the Spectrum online, alumni can read those extra stories and receive the student reporter's angle, which could possibly be the best point of view, of school news.
I hope your staff and future staffs continue to publish online. In addition, I hope to see Spectrum archives and a "Letters to the Editor" section on the Web site.
