It has been a weird first month of the NBA. The Oklahoma City Thunder were bad and now look well-built. That’s odd. The Los Angeles Lakers look like a losing team, but have a winning record and wrecking ball on defense in Tyson Chandler. We found out even LeBron James can’t carry an entire defense. The Boston Celtics look like garbage, but they have arguably the second-most-stacked team in the NBA.

University officials are working with Sweet Home Senior High School to take down the unused ropes course on UB property behind the high school’s baseball field. UB has no plans for the course, and the course is no longer maintained, according to UB spokesperson Kate McKenna.

Last year, the women's basketball team looked primed for a huge season. With guard Stephanie Reid, Buffalo had its most successful season in program history going 29-6. With a strong group of juniors and seniors, the talented team led UB to its first Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Nate Oats has gone from high school head coach, to assistant coach of Buffalo, to the 2018 Mid-American Conference coach of the year. Oats has seen players from Blake Hamilton to Wes Clark play for his team but has a mostly familiar group for this season.

A 97-50 basketball win is always a reason for celebration for UB sports fans. Buffalo looked great against Daemon Friday night in what would be the Bulls’ season debut at Alumni Arena. The Bulls even scored 55 in the second half alone and six players had double-digit scoring games.
