Claude Lemieux's game-winning goal at the 10:19 mark of the third period Tuesday night gave the Phoenix Coyotes a 3-2 comeback win over the Sabres in front of 18,690 fans, the second HSBC Arena sellout of the season. Buffalo had a 2-1 lead to start the third period, but could not hold on for victory. It was the first time they have lost a game this year when leading at the start of the game's final stanza.

On April 29, 1997, Ron Tugnutt lay in his goal crease and watched helplessly as then-Sabre forward Derek Plant's long slap shot in overtime of game seven slowly tricked across the goal line after deflecting off his glove. The goal eliminated Tugnutt's Ottawa Senators from the playoffs.

Sophomore attacker Nicole Olszewski is burning up the playing field and lighting up the scoreboard this season for the UB women's soccer team. A native of the Buffalo suburb of Lancaster, N.Y., Olszewski has five goals and five assists this season for 15 points (two points are awarded for a goal in individual statistics, one for an assist), 10 points more than her closest teammate.

Very rarely do I have a chance to talk about professional wrestling in the sports page. (In fact, rarely do I ever write a column, as I have a team of sports writers that love to do this kind of stuff). In any event, pro-wrestling is not really a sport, and is as staged as any opera or ballet, so it really doesn't warrant my attention in this capacity.
